Burges Salmon is set to launch its second redundancy consultation this year, with 31 jobs under threat. The firm announced today (24 August) that up to 27 support roles could go following a business services staffing review which began in March. In addition, the firm is also consulting on four fee earner roles in its property practice as a result of the ongoing market slowdown. Both redundancy consultations will formally commence next week.

The consultation, which concluded in July, has seen eight support staff lose their jobs alongside eight fee earners in the firm's corporate and real estate groups. PEP for 2008-09 stood at £222,000 compared with £164,000 in 2007-08, with the increase coming against a marginal dip in turnover to £41.1m compared to £41.6m the previous year. Overall profits increased by 56% to £8.6m.

Linklaters has edged ahead of magic circle rivals Allen & Overy (A&O) and Clifford Chance (CC) to top the global project finance rankings by market share for the first half of 2009. New research from Infrastructure Journal (IJ) shows that the firm leads the global rankings by value for the first six months of this year after scoring roles on 15 deals worth $7.623bn (£4.7bn). The tally gives the firm a market share of just over 5% - marginally ahead of CC.

Unaudited figures from the firm show that revenue for the last financial year stood at £126.5m, down from last year's equivalent figure of £140.1m. PEP fell to £375,000, down from last year's equivalent figure of £574,000.
