Over the past decade we have created solid relationships within the private client industry, bringing together an exclusive and global audience of private client lawyers. With that in mind, we are delighted to announce the chairmen of the 2013 edition of Private Client Forum - Basil Zirinis of Sullivan & Cromwell, USA and Rupert Ticehurst of Berwin Leighton Paisner in the UK. Together, they will lead the forum with great strength and expertise. This year's forum will give rise to the evolving source of wealth and the significant shift seen in its distribution around the globe. With emerging markets fast becoming the front-runners in the land of the ultra-rich, we have to adapt to a new demographic wealth profile. Whilst these developing markets are creating ‘new' wealth, the new markets are also attracting inherited and ‘old' wealth, seeking stable growth opportunities. Our programme not only addresses the distribution of global wealth, but will aim to get into the minds of those whose wealth is self-made. Whilst they may want more freedom and don't want to be strangled by the red tape, where does the role of the adviser sit? These are some of the topics that will make up this year's exciting and thought-provoking programme. The British Legal Awards celebrate achievement, excellence and innovation in the legal industry. The Awards are hosted by Legal Week, the weekly magazine dedicated exclusively to business lawyers in the UK and major international jurisdictions. As UK law firms gear up for the full implementation of the Legal Services Act against the background of ever fiercer competition, the need to stand out from the pack could not be more pressing. The British Legal Awards will set out to recognise the achievements of those law firms, teams and individuals who have responded most successfully to the demands being placed on them in the new post-recession business environment. The awards are divided into individual, team and firm categories and have been carefully chosen to reflect the range of practice areas and skills that lie at the heart of the successful law firm or legal department. The shortlist and winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges made up of senior in-house lawyers, former managing and senior partners and other senior business figures. The judges meet in person to deliberate and the decisions of the panel are final.
