DAC Beachcroft expands Asia footprint with Hong Kong collaboration

DAC Beachcroft has expanded its presence in Asia via a collaboration with Hong Kong-headquartered firm Oldham Li & Nie (OLN).

OLN, which has around 40 lawyers across two bases in Hong Kong and Shanghai, focuses on insurance and reinsurance, corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, employment and immigration, intellectual property, tax and private client work.

The tie-up, which takes effect from this month, adds to DAC Beachcroft’s existing Asia presence, alongside its association in Malaysia and office in Singapore.

DAC Beachcroft Singapore insurance partner Steven Dewhurst will lead the collaboration, while consultants Greg Crichton and Adelina Wong will head up the relationship on the OLN side.

DAC Beachcroft managing partner David Pollitt said: “We are pleased to have formalised this new collaboration with OLN, a firm with deep local and sector knowledge and with which we share a commitment to our clients.

“Driven by client demand, this goes beyond simply cross-referrals; the new arrangement will enable us to provide comprehensive legal solutions for our multinational clients in this important region for our business. “

The deal comes after DACB last month agreed an association with Argentina’s Lopez Saavedra & Villarroel, a move which means it now has a presence in 11 jurisdictions in Latin America.

In 2016, the firm signed deals with Central American firm BLP and Peru’s Torres Carpio Portocarrero & Richter, while it has also launched offices in Chile, Colombia and Miami and sealed an association with full-service Brazilian firm Demarest.

Other global expansion for DACB in recent months has included last January’s launch of Legalign Global, an insurance-focused alliance with three law firms in US, Germany and Australia, which operates as a UK private company limited by guarantee.
