Gibson Dunn makes up female London duo in 16-strong partner promotions round

Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has made up two female London lawyers to partner in its annual promotions round.

Finance lawyer Amy Kennedy and antitrust of counsel Deirdre Taylor have both been promoted in the US firm’s City base.

Kennedy has been an associate at the firm since 2015 when she joined from US rival Weil Gotshal & Manges, while Taylor joined as an of counsel in 2013 from the Office of Fair Trading. She was previously an associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.

The promotions come after the firm made up just one partner in London last year.

Kennedy and Taylor are part of a 16-strong intake of new partners around the world, with the bulk of the appointments being made in the firm’s domestic US bases.

Thirteen lawyers have joined the firm’s partnership across New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Denver and Los Angeles, while the one other promotion is in Dubai, where M&A associate Fraser Dawson has been made up.

All partner appointments take effect on 1 January 2018.

Firm chairman Ken Doran said: “We are very proud of our new partners, and congratulate them on achieving this important professional milestone. Like the firm as a whole, they are a diverse group of lawyers from different markets with different practice specialties, but who share a dedication to delivering the highest quality of legal service to our clients.”
