BuzzFeed recruits new top lawyer after departure of first-ever general counsel

Media company famous for listicles, cat memes and pop culture quizzes appoints new GC

BuzzFeed, the global digital media company responsible for the news website famous for its listicles, cat memes and pop culture quizzes, has appointed a new general counsel. 

Rhonda Powell comes to BuzzFeed from Complex Media, another New York-based media company with a strong pop culture bent. She had been at Complex since January 2017, and served as the company’s chief legal officer and senior vice-president, a position that put her in charge of a team that supported the company’s digital media business.
