Morrison & Foerster boosts London with ex-Clifford Chance finance hire

Morrison & Foerster has expanded its London office with the hire of former Clifford Chance (CC) finance partner Caroline Jury.

Jury had been a partner at CC since 1998 and specialises in corporate lending and structured finance, leveraged acquisitions, and corporate restructuring, acting for both lenders and borrowers.

In 2013, she relocated to CC’s Sydney office when the magic circle firm took steps to bulk up its Australia practice. Before that she was a partner in Germany, where she helped build the firm’s finance offering there.

She retired from CC’s partnership late last year. According to CC’s website, the firm currently has eight partners in Sydney.

MoFo European managing partner Paul Friedman said: “Caroline’s 26 years of experience in cross-border financial transactions will significantly deepen our London finance practice, which had a robust 2017. Her extensive experience in the German market will also help further build out our broader European finance practice.”

Her hire represents the second lateral partner MoFo has added in London this month. Last week (7 February) it hired corporate partner Dan Coppel from US rival Jones Day.

Coppel spent almost six years at Jones Day after joining in 2012 from Dewey & LeBoeuf, shortly before that firm’s collapse. His practice focuses on M&A and private equity, predominantly in the energy and natural resources sectors.
