Media company Time Inc has named Lauren Ezrol Klein as its new general counsel (GC).
Klein is succeeding Lon Jacobs, who has been at the company since late 2013 and is leaving on 2 September. She will report directly to Joe Ripp, Time’s chairman and CEO.
Klein, who joined Time Inc in 1996, has been deputy GC since 2014, a role which has seen her lead the legal department’s M&A and securities function, as well as overseeing the corporate legal group. She also played a key role in the company’s spin-off from Time Warner Inc in 2014.
She started her career as an associate at elite US firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, and has specialised in corporate law for 25 years.
Ripp said: “With her experience and skills, we are very fortunate to have someone of Lauren’s calibre take on the critical general counsel role. I’m delighted to have her on my executive leadership team.”
Jacobs was previously GC at News Corporation, a role he held for six and a half years before his departure in 2011.
