Reed Smith hires capital markets heavyweight from CMS

daniel-winterfeldt-Feat-201606261554Capital markets heavyweight Winterfeldt has joined the international firm’s London-based financial industry group, along with a team of three associates.

At CMS he led the international capital markets (ICM) group, which included the US securities practice, and also served as the firm’s diversity and inclusion partner.

He joined CMS from Simmons & Simmons in 2011 to launch its ICM group.

Winterfeldt (pictured) began his career in the US but has practised in the London market since 2000. He started out in the City offices of US firms Weil Gotshal & Manges and Jones Day, before joining Simmons as a partner in 2007.

He is the founder and co-chair of the Forum for US Securities Lawyers in London and the founder and co-chair of the InterLaw Diversity Forum.

In 2014, he co-led the team advising CMS’s longstanding client Telefonica Deutschland on a €3.6bn (£2.9bn) share issue.

Reed Smith’s London managing partner Andrew Jenkinson commented: “Daniel’s arrival is another example of our determination to pursue our strategy of growth in our key sectors and markets, including London and New York.”
