Top Asia law firms and in-house teams line up to compete in premier China legal awards

The call has gone out to Asia’s leading law firms, dealmakers and in-house legal teams to enter the tenth annual China Law & Practice Awards.

The awards, which are hosted by Legal Week sister title China Law & Practice, showcase legal work being undertaken in mainland China and are open to all law firms and legal departments that operate there.

There are also several awards that cover the wider Asia region.

Last year’s major winners included Allen & Overy, which secured International Law Firm of the Year; Fangda Partners, which was named PRC Firm of the Year; and Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison, which was singled out as Most Innovative Firm of the Year.

PRC Dealmaker of the Year was private equity specialist Jonathan Zhou, of Fangda Partners, whose clients include Blackstone Group, Bain Capital, Carlyle Group and Goldman Sachs.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Park Hyatt, Beijing, on 21 September and the deadline for entries is 17 June. The finalists will be announced on 1 August.

The awards categories cover Deals of the Year, Law Firms of the Year across a range of practice areas and regions, Lawyers of the Year and In-House Teams of the Year.

There are grand prizes for China Firm of the Year, International Firm of the Year and Most Innovative Firm of the Year, while this year – to celebrate the awards’ tenth anniversary – there will also be a special prize for Firm of the Decade.
