'I came with the expectation I was equal' – video interview with late Slaughter and May partner Frances Murphy

Slaughter and May's Frances Murphy, one of the most high profile female partners in the City, passed away last week, not long after recording this video interview

Longstanding Slaughter and May corporate partner Frances Murphy died last week after a long illness. In this video interview for the First 100 Years project, which charts the progress of women in law, Murphy discusses everything from her motivation for becoming a lawyer to her love of deals and the reality of life as a City lawyer.

As one of the most high profile female M&A partners of her generation, she also talks about the need to improve the number of women staying in law, asking: “How do you fix the system and make it work better for men and women who all want to have a real life, as well as a professional life?”
