“My dream is to become a legal aid lawyer in social welfare law. I couldn’t possibly afford to do it without sponsorship for the GDL and LPC, and I was lucky enough to be offered a training contract with a top firm. I accepted it with the hope that I could eventually get into a department related to social welfare law. In my application and throughout the recruitment process I was very honest about my interests and ambitions.

“I am now eight months into my training contact and it looks like I will not be offered a place related to social welfare law. Instead, I’ll end up qualifying in personal injury, which I have absolutely no interest in.
