Weil Gotshal makes up London trio in 12-strong partnership round

Weil Gotshal & Manges has made up three London lawyers as part of a 12-strong global partner promotions round.

The promotions in London, which are effective from January 2013, have seen the firm make up Simon Lyell and Samantha McGonigle in its private equity practice and Rupert Wall (pictured) in structured finance.

In addition to London, the appointments cover the firm’s offices in Houston, New York, Munich and Prague. The firm has made up four M&A partners in the Czech capital, with three promotions in New York and one each in Houston and Munich.

London managing partner Michael Francies commented: “The number of new London partner appointments underlines our commitment to investing in future generations to ensure the continued growth of our business and serving the needs of our clients.”

Last year just one Weil lawyer was made up in London, in an 11-strong global promotions round that spanned Boston, Frankfurt, New York, Paris, Silicon Valley and Washington DC.

Meanwhile, six counsel appointments have also been made across the firm’s bases in New York, Paris, Warsaw and Washington DC.
