Squire Sanders signs up DLA duo for Birmingham construction team

Squire Sanders is set to reinforce its Birmingham construction team with the hire of DLA Piper’s EMEA engineering and construction head Graeme Bradley and fellow partner Robert Norris.

Bradley and Norris are currently in talks with Squire Sanders over their move, with the exact date of their departure still under discussion.

The partner duo are set to join Simon Bradley as construction partners in the firm’s Birmingham office, sitting alongside the real estate team.

Bradley, who became leader of DLA’s construction group in 2000 after four years with the firm, also formerly headed up Eversheds’ construction group in the Midlands. He focuses on infrastructure and oil and gas work, and is also a qualified Hong Kong solicitor and French avocat.

The moves will leave DLA with six construction and engineering partners in the UK, and will bring Squire Sanders’ UK team up to a total of seven, in addition to two partners currently based in London and one in each of the firm’s regional offices in Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester.

The news follows Squire Sanders’ launch of a three-partner shipping team in London, adding to the firm’s existing New York shipping base.

Graham Harris, formerly shipping head at maritime specialist Thomas Cooper, is leading the team alongside Dharmendra Nair, formerly head of Thomas Cooper’s Indian desk. DLA Piper associate Linos Choo has also joined the new team as a partner.
