Holman promotes nine to partnership in wake of Barlows hires

Holman Fenwick Willan has announced its annual partner promotions, with the firm adding nine lawyers to its partnership – including six in the City.

The promotions, which came into effect on 1 April 2011, saw the firm’s London office gain the bulk of new partners, with a further one apiece added to its Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore outfits.

In London, Jean Koh, Rory Butler and Richard Neylon have been promoted in the shipping disputes practice, alongside Katie Pritchard and Richard Merrylees in international trade and Brian Gordon in corporate and commercial.

Patrick Cheung, Julian Davies and Chanaka Kumarasinghe have all been added to the partnership in the marine law practice across the Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore offices respectively.

Holman Fenwick senior partner Richard Crump (pictured) said: “We are continuing our strategy of growth in core sectors across the world and I am particularly pleased that we are seeing ‘home-grown’ talent come through the ranks.

“The promotion to partnership of these high calibre individuals complements the recent developments we have made through lateral hires. The international spread of these developments reflects entirely our long-term objectives.”

The partnership round marks an increase on last year’s promotions when five new lawyers were made up.

The promotions come after Holman Fenwick last month hired a highly-rated aviation team from Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. The eight partner-team is joining Holman across its London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sao Paulo and Dubai offices.
