Maclay Murray & Spens’ London push has sealed a major role opposite Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on a £265m financial services acquisition for Aberdeen Asset Management.

The deal, which saw Aberdeen acquire Deutsche Asset Management’s UK arm, is the biggest the Scots leader has handled for the client since it acquired the fund manager’s key adviser, London financial services boutique The City Law Partnership, last year. Maclays also advised Aberdeen on a £215m rights issue to fund the acquisition.
