Ince & Co's global energy and offshore head Andrew Iyer has resigned from the firm following a period of suspension for "irregular financial behaviour".
Following Iyer's departure from the firm, first reported by RollOnFriday, Ince has appointed Jeremy Farr to replace him as practice group head.
Farr, who joined the firm in 1985 and made partner in 1994, took up his new position earlier this month.
In a statement, Ince said: "Andrew Iyer has resigned from the partnership with immediate effect due to irregular financial behaviour. This is an isolated issue and no other partner or member of staff was involved.
"This will have no material effect on the firm and no clients will suffer any loss. This matter is under investigation, with which Mr Iyer is cooperating, and we cannot comment further at this stage."
The firm also confirmed that the relevant authorities had been notified.
Iyer specialises in commercial litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution, with a focus on energy, shipping, international trade and insurance law.
He had also carved out a career as a novelist and written two legal thrillers, The Betrayed and Domino Run.
Ince broke through the £80m barrier for the first time this year, posting a turnover of £86.3m for 2009-10, marking an increase of 8.7% on last year's revenue of £79.4m.
