Field Fisher Waterhouse and Bevan Brittan have both won spots on the Solicitors Regulation Authority's (SRA) first-ever litigation panel.
The panel, which was announced yesterday (2 March), saw five firms appointed, replacing the previous arrangement whereby a number of firms were instructed on a case-by-case basis.
Bevan Brittan and Field Fisher will sit alongside Capsticks, Russell-Cooke and Devonshires, with all firms providing advice on judicial reviews, regulatory advice and appeals, recovery litigation and contested interventions.
The three-year appointments follow a competitive tender process.
SRA chief executive Antony Townsend (pictured) commented: "We are pleased that the objectives of the tender were met. The firms selected had to show their expertise and act as a co-ordinated team when dealing with large and complex cases as well as satisfying us on their commitment to equality and diversity principles."
He added: "We achieved our aim and received a good response from all parts of the legal community. We are confident that the five firms we have chosen will provide us with high quality service over the next three years."
Last summer the SRA made 24 appointments to its panel of intervention agents, which deals with firms when there is deemed to be a risk to client money, including Blake Lapthorn, DWF, Hill Dickinson, Kennedys, Michelmores, Morgan Cole, Foot Anstey and Gordons.
