Clifford Chance (CC) global managing partner David Childs has announced that he intends to stand for a second term in his current post.
The magic circle firm is set to vote on the uncontested position next month to confirm his second four-year term at the head of the firm.
In September Legal Week reported that Childs was expected to run for the job again, at the time when a raft of management roles were up for grab.
Should he receive approval from the partnership, his new term will commence on 1 May 2010.
Childs was elected into the firm's top management role in 2006, after taking a chief operating officer brief in 2003 alongside his then role as head of corporate.
At the start of his tenure replacing Peter Cornell, Childs disbanded a high-level committee formed by Cornell to devise a 10-year strategy for the firm, taking a more central personal role in driving strategy.
The news follows a handful of new management appointments within the last two months, including contested elections for both the London managing partner role and the post of global head of litigation.
Capital markets partner David Bickerton was elected to lead the firm's London office, a role which also includes overseeing the Middle East and European office network.
Meanwhile, former London managing partner Jeremy Sandelson was elected as global litigation chief in October after a hotly contested election.
He replaces Mark Kirsch, who stepped down from the post and left the firm in the summer.
