Cads in heavyweight restructuring raid on Weil NY

Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft's New York office has poached four of Weil Gotshal & Manges' most prominent bankruptcy partners in a significant boost for the firm's restructuring practice.

George Davis, Deryck Palmer, John Rapisardi and Andrew Troop are all set to join Cadwalader as partners from Weil Gotshal's business finance and restructuring department.

Between them the group advises on matters including Chapter 11 restructurings, corporate restructuring and bankruptcy, distressed debt and bondholder committees. Palmer is a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Bankruptcy.

The move will be seen as a major blow to Weil Gotshal, although the top-tier bankruptcy firm still counts rated partners including Martin Bienenstock and Marcia Goldstein and Harvey Miller - who rejoined the firm this month from niche investment bank Greenhill & Co - among its ranks.

The hires come with Cadwalader set to lose high-profile restructuring partner and City chief Andrew Wilkinson, who is to join Goldman Sachs later this summer as co-head of restructuring alongside Lachlan Edwards.
