Iain Wright, who specialises in M&A and equity capital markets work, joins the London arm of Morgan Lewis as a partner.
In recent years Wright has developed a focus on the international communications, media and technology sectors and advised on the £25.1bn acquisition of mobile phone company Orange by France Telecom in 2004 - one of the largest M&A deals seen in the UK.
The hire continues a push by Morgan Lewis to develop its growing City offering, which was bolstered in July by the appointment of new partners Saloni Joshi and Kate Habershon, who joined from Debevoise & Plimpton and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton respectively, where they were both counsel.
Commenting on his move, Wright said: "The opportunity to diversify my practice and to develop relationships with the extremely broad client base Morgan Lewis has internationally and in the UK is very appealing."
He added: "I believe my own clients will benefit from the top-level transactional skills available throughout the firm's global network."
The new arrivals follow Morgan Lewis's recent move to larger London offices as the firm aims to double its current City's headcount of around 35 lawyers by 2009.
