The firm's City base receives six new partners, with two in dispute resolution, one in corporate, one in capital markets, one in real estate, and one in pensions.
Ten of the new partners have been made up in the firm's continental European offices, the majority of which were promoted throughout the firm's German network, which includes offices in Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Duesseldorf.
Paris, Prague, Madrid and Milan each receive one new partner, while the firm has also promoted one in Hong Kong and two in New York.
Lovells senior partner John Young (pictured) said: "These appointments reflect a broad spectrum of practice areas and jurisdictions, and are testament to Lovells' investment in its associates within areas of strategic importance for the long-term development of the firm. All of our new partners have shown strong performances in challenging markets, and these deserved promotions will place our legal talent where it is needed for the benefit of our clients."
Lovells becomes only the second leading UK law firm to make up more partners in 2009 than in 2008. Earlier this week CMS Cameron McKenna announced that it was promoting 17 new partners, compared to 11 the previous year; however, this was the first year at Camerons where all promotions joined a local partner tier that involves no voting rights or a share of the equity.
