Our client has one of the leading Private Client departments in the South East and due to expansion they are offering a great opportunity to an experienced candidate.

The position will suit Solicitors with at least 3-4 years solid post qualification experience specialising in Private Client Work. In particular, you must provide an excellent working knowledge of: Intestacy Rules; Deeds of Variation of Wills; Personal Taxes including Inheritance, Capital Gains and Income Tax; Understanding Will clauses and validity; Papers required for the Grant; Common form Grants; Administering estates/estate accounts; Inheritance (Provision For Family Dependents) Act claims awareness; Previous experience working with farming clients or business clients is essential. You will also have proven marketing experience such as involvement in referrer/client events and networking lunches.

Tax and Trust Work
* To take instruction and draft a variety of trusts with minimum supervision including: - Life Interest Trusts, Discretionary Trusts and Declarations of Trust.
* To fully understand tax treatment of different Trusts in light of the changes brought in by the Finance act 2006 (effective from April 08)
* To be responsible for conducting day to day administration of tax funds including drafting Deeds of Appointment, Deeds of Retirement, Completion of Trust Tax Returns, Drafting Trust Accounts, Variation of Trusts, and Lifetime Trusts.

Will Drafting - To provide an excellent working knowledge of:
* Will structure and specific clauses regarding revocation, appointing executors, trustees and guardians
* Wills with Life Interest Trusts
* Wills with Discretionary Trusts of Residue
* Nil rate band discretionary Trusts
* Wills for business clients: Understanding partnerships agreements/shareholder agreements, different ways businesses can be set up including tax implications (tax relief, in particular inheritance tax relief and capital gains)
* Wills for farming clients: Understanding inheritance tax relief, agricultural property reliefs.
* Wills for clients with foreign assets or non domicile in the UK for tax purposes

Farming & Businesses
* A good working knowledge of APR / BPR to be able to advise farming and/or business clients re estate planning and succession planning issues.
* To achieve monthly and annual fee earning and other KPI targets as per the Department Plan
* To advise and manage client expectations in specialist subject
* Assist with and deliver seminars on specialist subject
* Ability to assist with marketing events
* To attend to clients both in person and on the telephone in a professional and efficient manner
* Becoming fluent and proficient with, and engaging in the Department’s day to day work; the case management system and other software applications.
* Dealing with all parties having contact with the firm in a timely professional and efficient manner
* To ensure the Organisation’s quality file management procedures are accurately carried out including timely use of checklists, E-filing, and timely filing of all paper correspondence, attendance notes and time records.
* To adhere to all quality standards
* To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain your own diary using the Microsoft Outlook calendar system.
* To undertake any other duties, which from time to time may be allocated
