Ready for a stand out career? If you are a first rate construction lawyer with at least 1-3 years post qualification experience (PQE), or equivalent, and you want to develop your career in a dynamic, closely-knit team, why not contact us?
CLOSING DATE: 30 November 2008
COUNTRY: United Kingdom
OFFICE: London Upper Bank Street
BUSINESS AREA: Real Estate
THE GROUP
The firm's independent Construction Group was created in 1997 to focus our non-contentious construction law capabilities more sharply. The need for expert input on large real estate deals, PFI/PPP projects, international projects and other financings and acquisitions was identified as a particular need. Since its creation, the Group's fee turnover has increased almost five-fold. This reflects the efficiency gains we have made from investing in high quality lawyers and excellent know-how capabilities. The team currently comprises 2 partners, 11 lawyers, 1 Professional Support Lawyer and an information officer.
"Demonstrating year after year that it is committed to the construction sector, Clifford Chance has a reputation for outstanding work whether in the development, investment or contentious fields." (Chambers Global 2008)
"The non-contentious practice is "hugely influential in the construction market", advising on the cream of national and international procurement and development." (Chambers Global 2008)
THE WORK
The Construction Group works in conjunction with the firm's top ranked Real Estate, PPP/PFI and Projects Groups, participating in and originating market-leading deals. The Group's three main categories of work comprise real estate development, international project finance transactions and PFI/PPP projects in varying proportions. Lawyers working in our Construction Group act for sponsors/developers, funders, contractors and other project participants and can expect to be involved in the drafting, negotiation and analysis of construction, facilities management, insurance, guarantee, bond and ancillary documentation. There is a clear transactional bias to the Group's work, so our lawyers are required to involve themselves in the management and organisation of teams of clients, lawyers and professional advisers.
KEY ATTRACTIONS
- The future of the practice: the quality of our instructions and the continuing growth of the Construction Group make it one of the leading places to be doing this kind of work
