Founded in 1946, our client has more than 850 lawyers practising in the world’s major financial and regulatory centres: New York, Washington DC, Paris, Brussels, London, Frankfurt, Cologne, Rome, Milan, Moscow, Hong Kong and Beijing. The firm operates as a single, integrated partnership and regularly advises on many of the most notable ‘Deals of the Year’ worldwide.
The London office has more than 80 lawyers, either English- or US-qualified and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, capital markets, tax, competition law and intellectual property. The London office has been involved in major cross-border mergers and acquisitions transactions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures and divestments, often working closely with colleagues in other offices of the firm and on domestic UK deals.
The London-based intellectual property practice advises clients worldwide on all aspects of IP matters, including the protection and exploitation of patents, trade marks, copyrights and trade secrets and design and database rights.
They are looking to recruit an IP/IT associate with between 3-5 years’ PQE. Candidates should have experience of all aspects of non-contentious IP and IT work, with an emphasis on transactional experience as well as:
•Broad IP experience (including patents, trade secrets, copyright and trademarks)
•Experience advising clients on the IP aspects of M&A deals and other corporate transactions
•Diverse industry and technology experience desired, including (but not limited to) IT experience
•Experience negotiating and structuring general commercial contracts as well as IP specific transactions (such as licences and development agreements)
•Practice building opportunity – requires strong leadership skills and the ability and willingness to train juniors.
Some exposure to outsourcing work would also be advantageous but not essential. The successful candidate will have excellent academics and training/experience from a magic or silver circle firm. This is an opportunity to be actively involved in all aspects of the development and growth of a global IP practice for a major US firm.
