Corporate - Commercial Tax Associate Level 2-4

The Commercial Tax group spans all of the firm's offices and includes 3 Partners and 11 other Fee Earners, including a VAT Consultant and 1 Professional Support Lawyer. The group is part of the nationally recognised Corporate Division and is part of a cross-Divisional wider tax practice which includes leading practitioners in the field of employee benefits and share schemes and personal and private client tax.
The Role
Working closely with other members of the Commercial Tax group to provide advice on a wide range of transactions including:
• Property and property related transactions including development and joint venture structures, formation of property investment funds, onshore and offshore property holding structures and acquisitions/divestment and advice on VAT and SDLT
• Finance: a wide range of property and acquisition finance, and some asset finance work
• Project finance and outsourcing including PFI and PPP: work on transactions for private and public sector
• Corporate: mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, restructurings, disposals for corporates and individuals etc.
• Commercial contracts, including indirect tax and cross-border issues.
Skills and Competencies Required
Any successful applicant will need the following skills in addition to the general competencies for an Associate Level 2-4 as described on the Careers section of the website:
• The ability to identify and support business development opportunities, supporting the establishment of strong client relationships at all levels
• Displays a knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice
• Experience of working in a Corporate or Commercial tax team, ideally in a City practice or major national firm
• Experience of Corporate taxation especially in connection with banking and finance taxation.
