PRIORITY RECRUIT
This role is for a full time professional support lawyer based in London supporting our Financial Services team in our Litigation & Regulatory group.

The Financial Services team is made up of the following work streams:
• financial regulatory (contentious and advisory);
• insurance and reinsurance (contentious and advisory);
• banking litigation.

The successful candidate will have broad relevant financial services regulatory experience and, ideally, experience of dealing with the Financial Services Authority. The experience would ideally have been gained in private practice but possibly in house. Previous experience as a PSL is preferred but not necessary, but the candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for knowledge management.
We will expect the successful candidate to possess the following attributes:
• Proven technical ability gained through previous practising experience;
• Leadership and project management skills;
• Confidence in own product;
• Ability to work on own initiative.

The role will involve the following non-exhaustive areas of support for the teams.

• Assisting with the monitoring and publicising of relevant domestic and EU legal and procedural developments relating to the areas of work of the teams, including:
• financial promotion (section 21 FSMA);
• the general prohibition (section 19 FSMA);
• market abuse and insider dealing;
• collective investment schemes;
• section 397 FSMA;
• official listing (including prospectus requirements and transparency obligations);
• recognised investment exchanges;
• insurance mediation.

• Providing technical assistance to fee earners and the development of know-how / standard documents / internal compliance documentation in relation to those areas.

• In conjunction with transactional PSLs, providing assistance to fee earners in relation to financial services issues which arise in the context of transactions (e.g. the acquisition of an authorised business), including advice and drafting.


• Assisting with the financial regulatory, insurance and banking litigation aspects of internal and external publications and presenting at client seminars.

• Assistance with training fee earners in relation to internal compliance and other FSMA related issues.

• Support for marketing initiatives and article-writing.

• As appropriate liaising with the Business Development team to identify and exploit business development opportunities.
