Great opportunity with recognised leading law firm. The post will suit solicitors with 2 yrs++ PQE, who are proficient in private client tax and related issues. You will also be a member of STEP.

Role

* Assisting Partner in all aspects of Private Client tax and related issues.
* Advising on tax and trust law, both UK and offshore.
* Working closely with IFAs, accountants and bankers, providing advice on tax and trust law.
* To undertake fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the Department.
* To contribute to team performance and participate in team goals and plans.
* To ensure the successful development of the Department and Division in line with the Divisional Business Plan and to the firm in line with the firm’s business objectives and Business Plan.
* To carry out the role as summarised here including objectives in key performance areas as agreed.

Main Responsibilities (not an exhaustive list)

* Practice management – financial - To maintain high standards in the processing of client work allocated by the Head of Department or Head of Division, or other partners, both in respect of professional standards and client care. To ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept fully informed on progress and on costs as set out in our practice management standards. To achieve agreed financial targets, both in respect of fees and the recording of chargeable and non chargeable time.
* To ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information.
* To assist in promoting the image and values of the firm.
* To assist with the marketing of the firm’s client services and the promotion and development of new products and client service opportunities.
* To ensure that all details regarding clients and potential clients and contacts are entered into the firm’s client relationship management system.
* To supervise, support and develop immediate support staff.
* To supervise other fee earners as directed by a partner.
* To maintain good communication with other members of the firm.
* To help develop systems and procedures within the Division, including the use of technology.
* To maintain good professional working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
* To contribute towards training and know-how both in respect of staff and own self-development.
* Through training and other means, to keep fully up to date with relevant legislation and practice and to comply with the relevant training requirements of the Law Society.
* To undertake any specified management responsibility as delegated by the Department’s partners.
* To be familiar with and comply with the requirements of the firm’s procedures. To exercise financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through collection of moneys on account and billing procedures.
