National law firm Shoosmiths has been saddened by the loss of banking partner Kirsty Clarke, who passed away last week (4 December).
Clarke, who was only 35, died as she flew home from a family wedding in Fiji, although the exact cause of her death is unknown.
Clarke, who was based in the firm’s Thames Valley office in Reading and worked closely with national property finance chief Alan Corcoran, was promoted to partner in May.
She joined Shoosmiths in 2004 from Trowers & Hamlins, where she had worked in Oman and Bahrain. Clarke had also completed stints with top 30 City firm SJ Berwin and in-house at building society Nationwide, primarily advising the treasury department on legal matters.
Shoosmiths chairman Andrew Tubbs said: “We were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Kirsty Clarke and everyone here extends their sympathies to Kirsty's family and friends. Kirsty will be a great loss to the firm and will be sadly missed.”
A book of condolence for Clarke, who leaves a husband and two children, has been opened at the Thames Valley office.

A great lawyer and a very decent person. Sadly missed.
Her death, comparatively young, is a great tragedy and a solemn reminder that health is more important than billable hours, business development, or PEP. One must feel for her young family so close to Christmas. RIP.
Shocking news. Kirsty was an exceptionally talented lawyer. A pleasure to work with. Unfortunately something like this puts a lot of things in perspective. RIP.
Kirsty, you made us smile everytime we spoke to you. You will be missed so much. We will pray for your young family.
