Dewey & LeBoeuf has announced its partner promotions for the year, with the firm making up 18 associates, including four in the City.

New York receives five new partners, the most of any office, while Washington DC gains three. The firm’s branches in Moscow, Warsaw, Almaty, Milan and Texas each gain one new partner apiece.

The appointments mark the first round of promotions since the merger of legacy New York firms Dewey Ballantine and LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae and take effect from 1 January, 2008.

Eleven of the new partners are legacy LeBoeuf lawyers, with seven haling from Dewey. There is an even split among the City partners, with two apiece from the legacy firms.

Last year, Dewey made up significantly more partners than its merger partner, making up 14 compared to just five at LeBoeuf.

The Manhattan firm becomes the latest US outfit to unveil its partner promotions, with Shearman & Sterling and O’Melveny & Myers earlier this week making up 13 and 23 new partners respectively.
