McDermott Will & Emery has moved to bolster its
London securitisation practice with the hire of two new partners from rival
US law firms.
Pierre Brochet and Abesh Choudhury will take the London securitisation and structured finance group to total of six partners and seven associates.
Brochet joined McDermott on 12 May from the London arm of White & Case, where he was a senior associate in the structured finance team. Choudhury is set to join the firm on 1 July from Dewey & LeBoeuf’s City office, where he was a counsel within the UK financial services regulatory practice.
Securitisation co-head Paul-Michael Rebus told Legal Week: “Pierre and Abesh are a perfect fit for us in London. Pierre is an expert in the synthetic side of collateralised debt obligations, which is an area where we had no depth before. The same can go for Abesh with his focus on European regulatory issues.”
McDermott London office head Doron Ezickson added: “The expansion of this key practice area is in line with our growth strategy.”
McDermott launched its London securitisation practice in early 2006 when it recruited SJ Berwin partner Nick Terras, with Rebus joining the same year.
Earlier this year McDermott brought in corporate partner Hugh Nineham from Lovells and John Cogan from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as its new global head of projects.
