Beachcroft has bagged a plum role advising the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on its real estate portfolio, the national law firm announced today (6 March).

Beachcroft won the mandate – which will see the top 30 UK firm advise the government department for a minimum of three years – after a competitive tender process, with property partner Stephen Birchall leading the team.

The appointment means Beachcroft will provide property and construction advice to HM Courts Service (HMCS) on its £2.5bn property portfolio in London and nationwide.

HMCS has a substantial pipeline of court-building and disposal programmes, including the construction of the new £25m Commercial Court in the Rolls & Arnold Building in Fetter Lane.

Commenting on the appointment, Birchall said: “This appointment is a tremendous effort from a team of specialists in this area at Beachcroft. We are excited that this has paid off and look forward to working with the MoJ over the coming years.”

The news continues a run of public sector panel appointments for Beachcroft, having landed roles advising the Welsh Assembly Government, announced in February, and the new NHS legal panel for London and the West Midlands.

Additionally, Beachcroft last year claimed a panel spot with courier company DHL and its employment team edged aside Eversheds to claim McDonald’s as a new client following a competitive tender. That appointment put Beachcroft in line to handle the full range of McDonald’s employment and human resources work across its network of 1,200 UK restaurants.
