Midlands heavyweight Wragge & Co has announced an increase in turnover of 11.5% for 2007-08 to reach £125.5m.

The news means Wragges has notched up double-digit growth in each of the last four years and matches last year’s performance, when the firm posted 11.2% growth in fee income to bill £112.6m against average partner profits of £420,000.

The firm indicated that it expected a similar improvement in profits per equity partner for the last 12 months, which would mean Wragges partners taking home on average around £470,000.

Commenting on the results, managing partner Ian Metcalfe (pictured) said: “Dedication to delivering creative, commercial legal advice and excellent client service has helped us post a robust set of figures this year.

“We have done well across the board, with growth coming from developing existing relationships and winning new business from big UK and international private and public sector organisations.”

Corporate was singled out as one of the firm’s best-performing practice areas, achieving growth of around 20% on last year.

The results come in the wake of top 10 City firm Simmons & Simmons today (6 May) also announcing double-digit growth in fee income for the last financial year, having unveiled a 16% jump in turnover to bill to £290m.
