Wragge & Co has agreed a deal to move to new Birmingham headquarters in 2011, the regional heavyweight announced today (22 April), in a move that will see the firm’s three offices in the city brought under a single roof.

Wragges is set to take up 250,000 sq ft on 11 floors at Two Snowhill, which is part of the £500m gateway site being developed by Ballymore Properties.

The firm is scheduled to take up the new premises – which will offer a major increase on Wragges’ current 170,000 sq ft of space – in September 2011 on a 20-year lease.

The firm last month recruited new facilities head Penny March to oversee logistics of the move. March has previously masterminded office moves for Mayer Brown, Coopers & Lybrand and KPMG.

Employees will be invited to take part in a firm-wide consultation to decide upon internal design, while a shortlist of architects and designers has already been drawn up.

Wragges managing partner Ian Metcalfe (pictured right) commented: “Choosing this quality and quantity of office space is a terrific vote of confidence from the partnership in the long-term success of our strategy, business model and growth plans.”

He added: “Frankly, it’s the biggest single financial commitment we’ve made in the firm’s 174-year history but is typical of our willingness to invest in the future of our business. Colmore Row has served us well but the world-class Two Snowhill will be the type of building our clients expect from a law firm of our standing and ambition.”
