King & Spalding’s London arm has boosted its energy practice with the hire of Watson Farley & Williams corporate partner Jonathan Martin, as well as an associate from Vinson & Elkins.

Both joined on Monday (21 January) and have experience in the energy sector.

Martin, who focuses on M&A and Alternative Investment Market work, spent three years as a partner at legacy firm DJ Freeman before joining Watson Farley in 2001.

Meanwhile, Peter Bowring joins as counsel from Vinson’s project finance and development practice group.

John Keffer, managing partner at King & Spalding’s London office, said: “Jonathan fits the bill as he is international in nature. He already has many clients in the US, and Texas especially.”

The Atlanta-based law firm
has a large presence in Houston, Texas, while the firm’s London branch was opened five years ago.

King & Spalding opened a real estate-focused branch in Frankfurt in September 2007. This was the 800-strong firm’s second office in Europe after London.
