Trowers & Hamlins has made up just four new partners in the firm’s latest round of internal promotions, including three women.

Tania Tandon (employment), Emma Tarran (public sector) and Julianne Walsh (project housing) all get the nod in the firm’s City hub, with the appointments effective from 1 April.

Exeter-based construction lawyer Alan Tate also steps up to partner, with the promotions taking the top 50 UK law firm’s global partnership to 110.

The promotions represent a significant drop from last year’s partnership round, when Trowers made up a record 15 new partners, including five across its network of Middle East offices, which miss out altogether this year. In 2006, the firm made up eight new partners.

Commenting on the news, Trowers senior partner Jonathan Adlington said: “This appointment of four new partners is a reflection of Trowers & Hamlins’ continued expansion, in what is set to be another successful year.”

The news follows a run of lateral hires by the City firm in recent months, with Trowers last month taking on new partners from Reynolds Porter Chamberlain and regional outfit asb law. That came after the firm posted a 21% surge in revenues last year reach £68.1m in 2007, against partner profits of £559,000 – an improvement of 18% on the previous year.

Trowers joins UK rivals including CMS Cameron McKenna and Olswang in unveiling its partner promotions, with the City duo having made up 11 and 10 new partners respectively.
