Allen & Overy (A&O), White & Case and Travers Smith are among a cross-section of firms battling it out to secure prizes at the 2007 British Legal Awards.

Shortlists published today (8 November)  show A&O, White & Case and DLA Piper among those in contention for the coveted international firm award, while Ashurst, Travers Smith and Nabarro have been selected in the competitive UK category.

A&O is also strongly represented in the key practice awards after being highlighted in the M&A, banking, securities and private client awards. Other firms to secure multiple nominations include Herbert Smith, Eversheds, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Clifford Chance.

Companies to be shortlisted in the corporate counsel categories include Accenture, Kimberly-Clark, Goldman Sachs and Burberry.

The winners, which are being decided by a heavyweight independent panel of businessmen and general counsel, will be unveiled in a black-tie event in central London on 28 November.
