Pitmans is launching a London pensions team after the hire of a partner from City firm Nabarro.

Ian Flowers joins the Thames Valley leader's City office as a partner from Nabarro, where he headed up the pensions team at the firm’s outpost in Sheffield.

Flowers initially qualified in the litigation department of Nabarro in 1983 and left a year later. He returned to Nabarro as a partner in April 2006 after stints at magic circle giant Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and legacy firm Rowe & Maw.

Flowers’ practice covers a full range of general scheme advisory and documentation work for UK clients.

Commenting on the appointment, Pitmans managing partner Christopher Avery said: “We are delighted to welcome Ian Flowers to the strong pensions team here at Pitmans. His prestigious background and first-class experience further adds to the strength we already have.

“It’s always pleasing to welcome a high-calibre lawyer to Pitmans and Ian’s background will make him an asset to both the team and the firm as a whole”.

The news comes after Nabarro earlier this month reinforced its own pensions capability with the hire of partner Anne-Marie Winton from national giant Pinsent Masons.

Last week the City outfit sustained the departure of private equity chief Roger Gregory, who is switching to the London arm of US firm Brown Rudnick.
