Irwin Mitchell has bolstered its family law practice in the northwest after sealing the hire of partner Elizabeth Tait.

Tait joins the national giant’s Manchester arm, where she will head up the local family law team, after a 15-year spell with regional outfit Stephensons Solicitors.

A specialist in advising on relationship breakdown, particularly on cases involving children or financial issues, Tait has been handed a brief to establish a centre of family law excellence in Manchester, covering the entire northwest region.

She will work closely with partner Martin Loxley, who oversees the top 20 firm’s national family law division.

Commenting on the appointment, Irwin Mitchell regional managing partner Grahame Codd said: “She will be a great asset to the firm. Her appointment demonstrates our commitment to offering a comprehensive set of legal services to a client base across the northwest.”
