Holman Fenwick & Willan has recruited rated aviation partner David Relf from shipping rival Stephenson Harwood.

Relf, who specialises in aviation financing, operations and regulation for commercial aircraft and corporate jets, covers a number of jurisdictions including the Middle East and the Far East.

He had been a partner at London-based Stephenson Harwood since 2002.

The hire is the firm’s second from Stephenson Harwood in recent months. Earlier this year Holman Fenwick recruited senior ship finance associate David Brookes as a partner in its London office.

The hires are the latest additions to the Holman Fenwick partnership, which also made up five associates in the spring.

Meanwhile, international shipping and trade law partner Chris Quennell has relocated to the firm’s Dubai arm from Melbourne.

Native Australian shipping and reinsurance partner Richard Jowett has moved in the other direction, from Dubai to Melbourne.

Holman Fenwick launched its Dubai office in February last year after taking over marine insurance specialist Hill Taylor Dickinson’s three-partner office in the emirate.

Jowett was one of the original three partners.
