Manchester’s Pannone is among a quartet of national firms that have been appointed to the Chester City Council legal panel.

The new-look roster, which also includes Hill Dickinson, DLA Piper and Beachcroft, took effect this month and will last for five years.

The appointment is expected to generate real estate work including commercial property, leases and regeneration mandates, as well as roles advising on future investments for the council’s pensions fund.

The appointment is a boost for Pannone, which has been attempting to target public sector work in recent months.

Commercial property chief Stephen Chalcraft and commercial property partner Stephen Lintott were involved in the Pannone team that tendered for the work. Lintott will be the relationship partner for Chester.

Chalcraft said the firm was actively targeting the public sector and particularly regeneration work, a sector that has ballooned across the northwest in recent years.

Pannone currently advises a string of local authority clients, including Lancashire County Council and Manchester City Council.

The news follows a recent beauty parade in which Pannone re-tendered alongside a slew of major firms for a place on Manchester’s specialist regeneration panel. Final appointments are expected to be announced later this year.
