Hammonds has bolstered its
London construction team with a double partner hire from Watson Burton.
Olivia Bateman and Lawrence Bruce, who were both partners at Watson Burton’s London office, become partners within Hammonds’ built environment group, which includes lawyers from the firm’s property, planning, construction and private finance initiative (PFI) teams. Both focus on non-contentious construction work, with Bruce’s practice also covering projects and PFI deals. He is currently advising on the development of London’s St Pancras station.
Bateman’s construction practice has a particular emphasis on development finance, regeneration, infrastructure and education work.
The pair have worked with clients including Manhattan Loft Corporation, the South East England Development Agency, Quintain Estates, Clydesdale Bank, Headcrown, Euro Dismantling Services and Excelsior Group.
Commenting on the new hires, Liam Buckley, head of Hammonds’ built environment group, told Legal Week: “I am delighted that Lawrence and Olivia have joined us this month. I am looking forward to working with them to take our construction practice forward across the UK. This is an important step in achieving this.
“The move is part of the firm’s expansion within construction nationally, particularly in London, and it ties in with the new partners’ need to expand their client offering.”
