Elizabeth Hassall joined the firm at the beginning of May as a partner, after 11 years at Hill Dickinson. She becomes the second partner in Halliwells’ matrimonial and family law group alongside practice head Tricia Cottrell.
Hassall’s practice focuses on family law, high net worth divorce, cohabitee cases involving business assets and pension schemes and matters such as prenuptial agreements. She said: “The opportunity arose and I could not turn it down. Halliwells has a good client base — akin to the one I had at Hill Dickinson — and the firm’s ethos is to look after its clients from a business standpoint, not just a legal one. [The firm] is looking to build on its success and plans to improve its service in what can be a difficult area of legal expertise.”
Chester-based Paula Milburn, previously a partner at JMW Solicitors, has replaced Hassall as head of Hill Dickinson’s family practice.
Hassall’s hire comes as Halliwells has also bolstered its regulatory and environmental team with the hire of an associate from
