Dundas & Wilson has posted a major rise in turnover for the 2007-08 financial year, with revenues at the big four Scots firm rising by almost a quarter to £74.8m.

The new total represents a 23% increase on last year’s figure, when Dundas billed £60.8m. The firm has yet to release details of its profits for the most recent financial year, with Dundas' all-equity partnership last year having each earned an average of £308,000.

Commenting on the figures, Dundas managing partner Donald Shaw said: “We’re in a good place, with strong growth across the UK and in line with our strategy, winning significant new corporate business in London. We’re always keen to bring on board new talent which will help us support our clients even more successfully across our business.”

He added: “The next year is likely to be a more complex time for the whole legal and business sector, but we have a strong foundation for further progress.”

The news comes after the firm earlier this year announced a number of new partner promotions for its London and Edinburgh office, taking its all-equity partnership to 86. Corporate received three new partners, with Douglas Land, Greig Williamson and Staurt MacLean promoted in the transactional team. Alan Fulton and Michael Wrigley were made partners in banking while Nick Padget got the nod in real estate.

Meanwhile, rival Scots firm Harper Macleod has posted its eighth consecutive year of double-digit growth, reporting a 16% increase in turnover to £14.2m for 2007-08. In addition, the firm said it plans to expand its Glasgow office as well as expand and relocate its offering in Edinburgh.
