Dundas &
Wilson has bolstered its employment practice with the hire of a partner from Clifford Chance (CC), the big four Scots firm announced today (9 January).
Robert Davies joined Dundas earlier this week as a partner and will be based in the firm’s City office. He had been a partner at CC since 2002.
The appointment – which means Dundas’ national employment practice now numbers five partners as well as 20 further fee earners – will see Davies focus on the financial services, technology and public sectors.
Commenting on the hire, Dundas managing partner Donald Shaw said: “I am delighted that someone of Robert's calibre is joining us and I know that he has a great deal to contribute to our practice across the UK.”
Davies, who said a greater scope for working on public sector matters at Dundas was a factor in his move, added: “I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Clifford Chance but am very much looking forward to the new challenges ahead, both in working with Dundas’ dynamic team in the London office, where I believe I have a lot to offer, and in helping the employment practice grow its UK capability.”
Davies represents the latest addition to an expanding City office after Dundas last year took on solicitor-advocate Martin Thomas from Herbert Smith and former Scottish Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC, who splits his time between London and Scotland, to lead the firm’s public law practice.
