Scots firm Semple Fraser has bolstered its insolvency team with the hire of former DLA Piper Scotland managing partner Gordon Hollerin.

Hollerin joined Semple Fraser’s Glasgow office earlier this month (1 April) to lead the Scots firm’s insolvency and corporate recovery team.

At DLA Piper he led the litigation and regulatory team in Scotland and has previously served as the firm’s local managing partner. Glasgow-based partner Joan Devine replaces Hollerin at the helm of the transatlantic giant’s Scots litigation and regulatory team.

Hollerin, who brought solicitor Fiona Carlin with him to Semple Fraser, takes over the insolvency team from former head Rachel Grant, who is set to leave the firm later this year. Hollerin is handed a brief to expand the firm’s insolvency and corporate recovery offering.

Commenting on the hire, Semple Fraser managing partner Alister Fraser said: “It is fantastic news that Gordon and Fiona are joining us. I believe that we can kick on from here and seize a bigger portion of this highly complex and specialist market-place.”

He added: “Although this appointment comes at a time of economic uncertainty, it reflects our long game. We’re building an outfit to compete with the best for the best work and the best clients and Gordon’s appointment will enhance both capability and scale.”
