Denton Wilde Sapte has made up a dozen new partners in this year’s round of promotions, the City firm announced today (29 April), matching the tally to get the nod last year.

The top 20 City firm has promoted six associates to partner in London, in addition to one in Milton Keynes, with further promotions coming overseas in Moscow, Paris, Istanbul and Muscat.

Five new partners are made up in the firm’s corporate practice, including the City-based duo of Rebecca Gordon and Matthew Tinger.

The energy, infrastructure and projects team gets two new partners, while Milton Keynes-based employment lawyer Simon Whysall also strikes it lucky.

All but one of the promotions are effective from 1 May, with Istanbul corporate lawyer Stephanie Beghe Sonmez stepping up to partner from 1 September, when the firm will have a total of 181 partners.

Commenting on the promotions, chief executive Howard Morris (pictured) said: “New partnership admissions are essential to the future of the firm and an important aspect of this year’s appointments is the investment in our international network’s leadership.”

The firm has also appointed Jane Miles and Nick Darby to the firm’s new managing associate role. Both are real estate lawyers, with Miles based in Milton Keynes and Darby practising in the City.

The news comes with rival City firms Watson Farley & Williams and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert having also announced their internal promotions this week, making up nine and eight new partners respectively.
