Clifford Chance (CC) and Denton Wilde Sapte have landed key roles on a £500m joint venture between Network Rail and the Kier Group.

The venture saw Network Rail appoint Kier as its preferred partner to regenerate seven brownfield sites across London and the southeast of England, with a total development value of more than £500m.

CC has advised Network Rail throughout the transaction, with commercial property partner Michael Edwards taking the lead for the magic circle law firm.

Kier, meanwhile, turned to regular adviser Dentons, where real estate partner Penny Davies led a team also including corporate partner Nigel Webber and energy and infrastructure senior associate Tammy Samuel.

Davies told Legal Week: “This is exciting for Kier as it is a large project. With mixed-use residential, retail and office developments in centralised, well-connected sites, this is a great partnership deal.”

This agreement is the latest venture on which Dentons has advised Kier over a 15-year relationship. It is currently advising the company on both the redevelopment of the Supreme Court in London and the relocation of the Ordinance Survey’s head office in Southampton.

The latest joint venture will see Kier redeveloping all seven sites which surround Network Rail stations in Enfield Town, Epsom, Guildford, Maidstone East, Twickenham, Walthamstow and Wembley Cutting.
