CMS Cameron McKenna has become the second top 20 UK firm to announce its 2008 partner promotions, with the City outfit set to make up 11 associates to partner.

The tally means the firm is making up one more partner this year than last, with the promotions taking effect from the start of the new financial year on 1 May.

Camerons’ City practice is gaining four new partners, with the banking, energy and projects, litigation and real estate practices all gaining one apiece. The firm’s Bristol office is also gaining a new partner, in real estate. The firm’s Moscow office gets two new partners, while Warsaw and Prague complete the set with one each.

Commenting on the news, managing partner Dick Tyler said: “My congratulations go to all of our new partners. Their range of practice areas and office locations reflects our strength and depth across Europe."

Over the course of the current financial year, Camerons has also made six lateral partner hires.

The news comes after Ince & Co and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer announced their new partner promotions earlier this week. Ince is making up just three new partners – a significant drop from last year, when the firm promoted seven partners. Meanwhile, City giant Freshfields made up a total of 25 new partners, including 10 in the City.

The new Camerons partners are:

  • Martin Brown (London - banking and finance);
  • David Cranfield (Moscow - corporate);
  • John Fitzpatrick (Bucharest - corporate);
  • Vivek Gambhir (London - energy and projects);
  • Tomasz Kurek (Warsaw - real estate);
  • Iveta Placha (Prague - real estate);
  • Omar Qureshi (London - litigation);
  • Gabriel Sidere (Bucharest - commercial);
  • Ian Stevens (London - TMT);
  • Adrian Wright (Bristol - real estate); and
  • Leonid Zubarev (Moscow - commercial).
