Pay for newly-qualified lawyers (NQs) at CC is increasing from £63,500 to a new mark of £66,600 – equal to what Linklaters pays its NQs and just above the £66,000 on offer at Freshfields.
Lawyers with one year post-qualification experience (PQE) will earn £68,700, up from £66,000. Associates with two years’ PQE are handed a 4% rise, pushing their pay from £79,000 to £82,200, while lawyers with three years’ PQE will receive £89,500, up from £86,000.
The news means that including bonuses, which are determined by factors including pro bono and business development work as well as performance, NQs could take home up to £79,000. At three years' PQE, associates can collect a maximum of £125,000.
