Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has become the latest City law firm to award its trainees and newly-qualified (NQ) lawyers an increase in pay despite the challenging financial climate.

The news follows Barlows’ financial results, when the firm reported revenues of £81.7m for 2007-08, marking a 7.1% increase from the previous year’s total of £76.3m.

The litigation team brought in the majority of revenues, billing £63.7m, ahead of corporate which billed £8.6m.

Recent instructions for the firm include representing LG in a £6.3m negligence claim and the appointment as solicitors to the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes.
